The valley, crossed by the famous river ARNO, is full of history that has left its signs in the numerous Etruscan remains, Romanesque churches, castles and medieval monasteries, including the castles of ROMENA and POPPI (neighbouring villages), where Dante Alighieri stopped over for a couple of weeks.
